Disguising the Grotesque

Familiar shapes—hands, wings, leaves, veins, — exploit the brain’s natural pattern recognition. By incorporating organic forms, the architecture taps into our subconscious need for familiarity.

However, some elements are based on more uncomfortable forms—like organs, muscle tissue, and microorganisms—exploring how to camouflage the grotesque with the beautiful.

This blending creates an unsettling yet compelling space, manipulating the brain’s pattern-seeking behavior to foster attachment while subtly evoking discomfort.
