The tower explores the intersection of gamification and architecture, translating digital engagement strategies into physical space.

By leveraging biomimicry to create an uncanny resemblance to living forms, the design exploits cognitive biases toward familiarity, subtly influencing user behavior and perception.

Disguising the Grotesque

Familiar shapes—hands, wings, leaves, veins, — exploit the brain’s natural pattern recognition. By incorporating organic forms, the architecture taps into our subconscious need for familiarity.

However, some elements are based on more uncomfortable forms—like organs, muscle tissue, and microorganisms—exploring how to camouflage the grotesque with the beautiful.

This blending creates an unsettling yet compelling space, manipulating the brain’s pattern-seeking behavior to foster attachment while subtly evoking discomfort.

Bilateral Symmetry

The building's design begins with bilateral symmetry, where the overall layout follows a balanced structure, setting a clear framework for the space.

This is followed by a spinal connection—the central circulation path.

Inside, asymmetry emerges, as interior spaces are arranged to maximize functionality and efficiency, similar to how the body’s organs are asymmetrically placed for optimal use.

A subterranean hyper loop connects the building to it’s communicating towers.

AI Check! AI Check!

Although AI was used sparingly in post compost layering,
all modeling was done by hand in Rhino.

Artificial Scarcity

In the marketplace of ideas, access to certain spaces are restricted and strategically controlled. Commerce and attractions open only at specific times, creating an artificial sense of scarcity and urgency—mimicking the digital world’s use of limited access, exclusive content, and timed promotions.

Spaces glow and blink as the window for engagement opens and closes, creating a sense of visual urgency. It capitalizes on the illusion of rarity to keep users engaged.

Olfactory Hacking

The scent orbs release familiar scents, triggering emotional responses by tapping into the brain’s olfactory system. Smells evoke vivid memories more intensely than other senses, and by using familiar scents, these orbs create a deeper emotional connection, mirroring how internet platforms leverage familiarity to foster attachment.

Fabricated Community

Though the individuals inside are part of the same space as the Marketplace of Ideas, they remain separated, unable to fully interact. This setup mirrors the way users online can feel connected to a community without ever engaging meaningfully.

People exist within a digital ecosystem, passively consuming content and feeling part of something larger, but remain disconnected from true interaction.  The space fosters a fragmented, superficial sense of belonging, where participation is often limited to passive observation.
